Over the years we have seen many failed implementations, and we are frequently contacted by companies needing a rescue mission. We have carefully analysed why these implementations have failed. What makes a successful implementation?  The first step, whatever software you are thinking of implementing, is risk management.

We have developed a unique 6 step process to make sure that your risk is managed, and that you get the outcomes you envisaged.

Our philosophy is that you need to be guided in the implementation process, and in the management of the change in your organisation. We support and coach you rather than doing all the work for you. Depending on the level of skills in your organisation, you may be able to do large portions of the pre-implementation work yourselves. You can manage your budget by deciding how much you do, and how much we do. Certain elements of work, such as integrating your website, is naturally work that we would do. We believe that the more you participate in the design and implementation of the system, the better equipped you will be to become self-sufficient. All of our services are built around this principle.

Managing Responsibility

Your level of participation in your project has a significant impact on both cost and benefit. An increased level of participation gives you the following benefits:

  • You will become familiar with the system and the processes being implemented – minimising the risk of disappointment later.
  • You will have a sense of the level of skill and the amount of time it takes to configure the system, and will better understand what you are paying for.
  • You will become self-sufficient in the system more quickly.
  • You will be able to use our skills only for the things that you genuinely cannot do, and in so doing will reduce the consulting cost of your project.
  • We expect that you will participate actively on your project and will embrace every opportunity to learn and prepare yourself for the go-live date.

Collaboration in Design

The best way to ensure that you get what you want is to go through a logical, defined process of communicating the information to Kilimanjaro. By doing this together with us, we will understand your vision of what your company wants from the system. Differences between your team members are resolved at this early stage, and a  consensus view is arrived at before we begin configuring the software. You may find that your own vision will change over time,  as you begin working with the software, and becoming aware of its capabilities.

At Kilimanjaro, we have learned that it is far more efficient to know what you are building before you start building it. Its no different to building a house. The cost of rectifying by far exceeds the cost of doing it right the first time.

One Step at a Time

The Kilimanjaro Methodology encourages you to set your own pace in your project. We believe in taking it one step at a time, and prioritising. You may, for example be planning to purchase a new server, or build a new website. At Kilimanjaro, we understand how all the elements fit together, and we can guide you in phasing your project to get the best return on your investment.

Our consulting background means we understand how businesses make decisions. We work happily with your existing resources: IT Suppliers, network administrators, web developers, accountants.

Managing the Budget

By breaking the implementation project down into small components and focusing on the outcome,  we establish a strong basis for performance evaluation and budget management. Each step in the methodology requires a discrete output and that output is evaluated by you in terms of its compliance to your specification. Our Lead Implementer on your project will keep you informed as to how you are tracking against your budget. We can suggest ways of managing the cost. We are also happy to make changes in scope, if required, and provide you with a revised budget for the new work.
